Banquet

The 2005 Austin Bass club banquet is in the books.  This year’s dinner and awards took place at Springhill Restaurant.  The food and company were great and a good time was had by all.  A special thanks goes out to Bud and Glenda Croom for their efforts in helping this banquet to be a success and an enjoyable evening for everyone that attended.

Thank you, Crooms!

Delinquent Dues

Austin Bass club dues are now considered delinquent and are subject to a late fee of $1 (Ouch)!   Dues are the same as they were last year, which is $20.  If you are interested in joining the Texas Association of Bass Clubs those dues are also $20. You can make out a single check for $40 to the Austin Bass club if you are interested in joining both.

February Tournament Results – Roadrunner

We had 6 ½ teams brave the rains and the weather and get out to fish their favorite lakes.  It was pretty much a two team race and a pretty close one at that.  Bobby Landes and Denis Parish came in with 31.31 lbs. from Choke Canyon to edge out Sean Ramsey and Keith Nichols who had 29.84 lbs. off of Lake Austin.  Both teams weighed in double limits.

The Choke fish were hitting rattletraps in 2’-7’ of water while the local fish were caught on wacky worms.

Third place went to Jim Sparks and Ronnie Scott who came in with 17.12 lbs. off of Granite Shoals (as Sparky refers to it).

Sean Ramsey took top honors as both top individual and as the big bass winner.  He had a 5-fish limit of 18.59 lbs. and a big fish of 5.14 lbs.  Great job, Sean!

In summary, we had 13 fishermen catch 45 fish for a total of 113.63 pounds for an average weight of 2.53 pounds.  There were a total of 6-five fish limits.

Congratulations to all the wet winners.

Club Identification

Resident historian Jim Sparks gave a brief report on the history of club identification at the January meeting.  After some discussion the club voted that club identification is recommended to be worn by club members during our monthly tournaments but it should not be a requirement.  The club didn’t feel that a member should be disqualified from weighing in his fish because he didn’t wear any club identification.

Although it isn’t a requirement I think that most all members don’t mind wearing their Austin Bass club cap to the weigh-ins.
