First off, we would like to say welcome to our newest members Frank Williams and Sidney Moore.  They were voted in at the January meeting.   Frank is a friend and co-worker of Keith Nichols.  Sidney is a past member whom we reinstated.   Welcome guys!!

January Meeting:

1)  10 members were present …with 1 guest.

2)  Treasury report was $854.46

3)  2005 patches were handed out  …finally  ..haa!

4)  Jim’s weigh slip for his Falcon big bass was voted in and approved as 2^nd place big bass for 2006.

5)  2007 TABC Top Six Tourney dates have been released.  They are September 29^th and 30^th.  It’s sounding like the tourney will either be Falcon or Amisted.   Those locations are NOT official at this time though.   I have reserved four cabins at Beacon ...just in case.  Amisted lodging will not be as critical.  We can discuss that at a little later date.   Also, please pay your TABC dues ASAP if you plan to fish the TABC “Top Six” Tourney in the future.  There is some discussion that TABC may make it mandatory to be a paid member DURING the season in which you qualify, not allowing us to wait until the state tourney to pay dues. 

6)  We’re having weigh scale issues.  The ones we are currently using are really giving us fits.  We would like to see if we could start using the old basket scales (or at least use them to verify our current scales).  The problem is we can’t seem to find them.   If anyone out there knows their whereabouts please let us know. Thanks.

7)  There was also a request for more paper tourney forms …along with some “big bass” weigh slips to carry. I will print some out if someone will tell me where to find them.

8)  The club banquet was also discussed.  We should really start planning now.  We waited too late last year and it didn’t happen. Please submit any ideas you might have.

9)  …and one last item.  We will be starting the raffles and dollar pots up again. So please come to the next meeting.  You never know what you might win!!   On that note, there are some of you we haven’t seen in awhile.  We miss seeing you guys at the meetings and tourneys.   I know Jake and Keith are ugly, but looking at them once a month shouldn’t cause any long lasting effects.  J.

Choke Tourney Results…

    Cold and wet is what it was.  We had 5 teams show up for the one day tournament.  Several teams showed up for some pre-fishing on Friday and some very good food that night at the restaurant at the Bass Inn.  As for the fishing, it was hit or miss.  Some may say that is a severe understatement.  There were three 5 fish limits weighed …by Jake Jakubowsky, Tim Spencer and guest Steve Nardecchia.  Tim and Steve had one of those days we all dream about.  How about a 10 fish limit for 58 pounds!!   I still don’t know how it happened …and I was in the boat!  I guess that’s a south Texas lake for you.   Second place was Jake and partner Frank Williams with 7 fish for 15.07 lbs.  Third place was Mike Shields and Jeff Woodard with 4 for 7.47 lbs.
