The Austin Bass Club was founded in September 1960.

Discussions took place at the last meeting in regards to improving club membership and attendance at the monthly meetings. The club is open to suggestions if anyone has any good ideas as to what we could do to improve attendance.
Those in attendance at the last meeting were treated to a video on how to fish the grass. As many lakes as the club fishes that has grass this video offered some informative insight and valuable tips as to how to catch fish in the green stuff. And it just so happens that the next tournament voted in is Fayette Co. Umm.
We had 7 and half teams fish the June tournament on Stillhouse Reservoir. The winning team stuck with fishing the grass and won the tournament with 19.11 lbs. Congratulations go out to Sean Ramsey and Keith Nichols who weighed in 8 keepers and had the big bass which Keith caught weighing 4.02 lbs. I won’t divulge their secret winning bait but I’ll give you a clue. It wasn’t a pink hellbender I’m pretty sure. Sean was first individual with 5 fish weighing 9.65 lbs. Second place was Bobby Landes and Denis Parish who had 5 keepers for 10 lbs. even. Their fish were caught on chartreuse Hula Poppers…just kidding. Their fish were caught on flukes, chug bugs and brush hogs. Third went to Jake Jakubowsky and Bud Croom who weighed in 5 keepers weighing 9.88 lbs. There were 15 fishermen that caught 29 fish for a total weight of 60.31 lbs. and an average weight of 2.08 lbs. Congrats to all!
