Constitutional By-laws

After a brief discussion the club voted to accept the newest version of the Constitutional By-laws as amended in December 2004. The By-laws can be viewed on the Austin Bass Club web page.

Dues

Don’t forget your Austin Bass club and TABC dues if you haven’t paid them for 2005.

March Tournament Results – Buchanan

We had 8 teams fish the March tournament on Lake Buchanan. The weather was nice up until a storm blew in accompanied by lighting a little before weigh-in time and forced most teams to come in a little early. (Except for the hardcore teams – see Jim Sparks and Ronnie Scott.)

Jeff Woodard and Mike Shields found all kinds of fish, 18 keepers and no non-keepers to be exact, to take first place with 24.06 lbs. They caught their fish in typical spring fashion, on shallow running crankbaits in shallow water.

Second place was Jim Sparks and Ronnie Scott, who were 1 fish short of a double limit, with 21.79 lbs. Their fish were a little spread out as they fished from the dam all the way up to Tow. I guess they were dodging lighting bolts trying to catch that last keeper.

Ronnie had big bass with a 3.76 pound fish, barely edging out a 3.68 lb. fish caught by Jeff Woodard.

Third place went to Jimmy Routon and Tommy Rountree. It was good to see these guys back fishing again as they’ve been out of pocket for a while. They teamed up for 15.14 lbs. Jimmy also refreshed everyone’s memory of the kind of fisherman he can be when he does fish by finishing as Top Individual with 5 fish weighing 13.04 lbs.

In summary, we had 16 fishermen catch 52 fish for a total of 105.64 pounds and an average weight of 2.03 pounds. There were a total of 5-five fish limits.

April Tournament

For anyone interested in making reservations at Lake Limestone, the Country Inn seems to be where most folks are making reservations. Their number is 903-626-4455. Hope to see everyone there.

Win a Rod

A drawing will be held at the next meeting for someone to win a new rod. So if you’re feeling lucky come on out to the April 5^th meeting and win a rod just in time for the Limestone tournament. And if you’re not feeling all that lucky, come on out anyway and shake the lucky winner’s hand. Maybe some of that luck will rub off.
