The Austin Bass Club March Tournament was a 2 day 2 lake contest in the Texas hill country. On Saturday 24 March 2007 the contenders put in at different ramps on Lake Buchanan like Paradise Point and Burnet County Park. Other ramps on the lake were closed due to extremely low water levels. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Reported the lake was 65° @ 21.53' low. There were 6 teams and 3 individuals and an old timer Ricky Henderson put in on Lake Buchanan with Keith Nichols and Sean Ramsey leading at weigh-in with 27.29lbs and a 7.19 anchor fish. On Sunday 25 March 2007 we though we were late to get to the ramp on Lake LBJ after 7:00 am, but after we got their other teams arrived to put in. I guess the day before contest on Lake Buchanan was just as hard or maybe even harder on the younger members. We did not stay around for the weigh-in at 2:00 pm and only had a small large mouth and a 13" spotty we headed for home. As it turns out Keith and Sean took First Place with 42.08 lbs and big bass with a nice 7.19 lbs. Jake and Brian sled into Second Place with 34.34 lbs and Bobby and Dennis held on to third place with 30.04 lbs. Of the 25 years fishing Lake Buchanan I have never seen the lake so low. With resent rains I hope "Big Buch" gets its fare share. Congratulations to all that were successful.
