Another South Texas Lake For November

The club enjoyed Falcon so much in October that another South Texas lake was voted in for November.  The fish were biting on Falcon and hopefully their southern counterparts will be just as willing and able on Choke Canyon.  Mark down November 19th on your calendar and make plans to fish.

Denis Catches a Great ol’ Big Un’

We had 7 teams venture down to Falcon for the October tournament and most caught lots of fish.  And then they caught some more, and then some more.  As a matter of fact on Saturday several teams reported catching in the neighborhood of 100 fish a boat.  It was some of the most incredible fishing they have ever experienced.

Speaking of incredible experiences, Denis Parish may have had the best of anybody there.  On Sunday Denis hooked and landed a monster, which tipped the weigh-in scales at 10.28 pounds!  And what a beautiful fish she was.  Denis enticed her with an 8” Mag lizard in about 15 foot of water.  The fish was not only the big bass for the tournament but now also leads the way for big bass of the year honors.

One of the teams that caught more fish than they could count was Sean Ramsey and Keith Nichols.  Amongst all those fish were a number of good, solid keeper fish, which propelled them to a narrow winning margin over the second place team of Dwayne and Dale Langston.

After leading the first day with a really nice string of 10 fish that weighed 31.50 lbs. they followed that up with another double limit of 23.92 lbs for a first place total of 55.42 lbs.  Keith weighed in the big fish for the day on Saturday with a 5.58 pounder.  The 55.42 lbs. edged out the Langston boys who also had a very nice total of 53.40 lbs.  Dwayne had a nice anchor fish of 6.43 lbs.

Third place was Denis Parish and Bobby Landes who had a nice rally on Sunday and came in with 33.96 lbs. for a two day total of 41.78 lbs.  Of course that Sunday weight was boosted considerably by the 10.28 hawg that Denis caught.

Top individual honors went down to the wire and was perhaps decided by the weight of a few shad.  Sean Ramsey edged out his partner Keith Nichols 27.95 lbs. to 27.47 lbs.  And right behind Keith was Dwayne Langston with 27.36 lbs.  Dale Langston was right behind Dwayne with 26.04 lbs.  That’s pretty amazing that the winning boat had a difference of less than a half pound between partners and the second place team had a difference of less than a pound and a half between partners.  It’s amazing how often you see this happen between two fishermen in the same boat.

There were a total of 96 fish caught weighing 230.46 lbs. for an average weight of 2.40 lbs.

Congratulations to all on a really enjoyable tournament for most.

(Except for Jake Jakubowsky and Wesley Sanders whose lower unit went out Saturday after catching about 30 lbs. of fish.  Sorry about the bad luck guys, but glad you got back in safely!)
